See?

Now I do have to say that I find this comment actually a lot more sexist than much of what's been said here

Very sad, and I really do hope this whole thread gets locked and sinbinned - TM members used to be waaay above this poopy stuff - please let's agree to stop this now, yeah? :D

Am I one of the only people who actually thought about there answer so as not to cause offense to either party? I may have failed...but at least I tried! :)

No offence taken on my part!

I thought your post was well structured and thoroughly thought out and gave a balanced view

I'm not usually easily offended, but being accused of sexism/homophobia/racism is one way to get me riled :|

Oh, so now you are implying that I structure my posts well? I'm assuming you think we all do that do you? It's because I'm white isn't it! You pig! ;)

I think the following posts were just as harsh as the original post Chris, you cant just accuse and call out people online about being sexist/racist or any of that other stuff and not expect any backlash ! its like it was expected that everyone was going to go "yeah your so right im glad somebody finally brought this up" and that wasnt the case mate.

By all means I don't think anybody was out of order in this thread, purely because I have always said to be blunt and honest about stuff.

Nobody can deny on this forum that I speak my mind, so I think it's good that people are speaking their mind on this thread.

I honestly couldn't give two sh!ts about what anyone's opinions are with relation to who they are, as I know that everyone's opinions will differ to experiences and situations. At the end of the day, nobody on this thread will change their mind, as everybody will think that they are right.

At the end of the day, we all know that the only person who is 100% correct in this thread is me! ;)

I actually beg to differ and I always look for positives in people

In 2 weeks I'm expecting Stacy to see the error of her ways, come back on and apologise to me and to everyone else for having a chip on her shoulder

Maybe the holiday is what she needs to unwind?

Alfred Borden wrote:Lets not lower the tone anymore guys, for what its worth Tony, Jon was merely sticking up for an attack on me, and given I've never met the guy, that was a really nice gesture I thought.

I read your original "offensive" post, and there was nothing sexist or offensive about it. It was purely an innocent remark misinterpreted - though how it was misinterpreted is a mystery to me.

I had never even heard of Jon Kent until I read this thread. It was the first posting by him that had crossed my path. He may be a lovely guy, but his initial posts on this thread paint him as an arrogant bully. Everyone else here seems to have gone to some effort to defend their views without going on the attack. That's why I singled him out.

Some good responses on this thread, particularly from Beardy who raised a few truthful and honest points.

I run my own cabaret show in the West End and have had numerous magicians on the show including two great female ones. Both of them have vastly different styles and both went down a storm with the audience. In the publics eyes it matters not a jot on the gender but what they do onstage. However, I think that some female magicians feel they have to work harder to prove themselves. I think it doesn't matter at all. It is a male dominated industry but some of the old school fellow are worried - the girls are just as good as the boys!

How was an innocent remark misconstrued that way? I'm guessing that if you have a chip on your shoulder about something you will always find a way to bring it up?

I'm not sure, never had a chip on my shoulder

All I know is, from a handful of posts I know that someone sees themselves as ugly, overweight, they have also provided information about their sexual orientation. That to me is unreal, this is a magic forum!! These things shouldn't come into it! No-one else comes on and starts talking about their looks or weight or sexual preference. And nor should they, its 2011 and these things are irrelevant to most people

Jon always comes across as a really nice guy to me and perhaps he saw me being attacked and no-one else had bothered to step in and state my innocence? I'm sure he was only trying to do the right thing or state what he believes is right. FWIW I don't think he came across as arrogant or a bully
