Any original tricks.

Wow, there is a name I haven't heard for some years. A card effect that is attributed to Douglas Hood:

Back in 1986 I bought a Nudist deck with a difference. The deck changes from all blank to all of the same card with red backs to a deck of cards all different cards with blue backs, then back to all blank.

The shop had had the decks stashed away for several years when I bought them (i liked it that much I bought their entire stock of one dozen decks). Their reason for them not selling them was that there weren't any instructions.

The decks, I am reliably informed, were made and created by Douglas Hood. They were made with Piatnik card stock.

I have one well worn and now unusable deck left, I would love for these decks to be re-made in Bicycle cards.

I first met Douglas Hood when I was a teenager around 1948-1951. He came to the Staffs Magic Society but--and this is from memory- he mainly belonged to the British Magical Society (BMS) in Birmingham. To me at that age he looked about 40.
He contributed many effects to early Abra magazines. So his obituary must have appeared in Abra.
Contact Donald Bevan who also must have known him. He & I were teenage magicians together in the Staffs. Later Don became Associate Editor then full Editor of Abra.

IF you cannot find him--let me know and I will e mail him.

What I remember most about Doug Hood was he had a little wooden board--from memory--approx- 10 inches by 8. On this he had inserted several nails. It was a small guillotine used for trimming off photographs.
Because the nails were positioned--he could cut short cards and most important biseaute (Stripper) decks very fast
The outstanding fact with his Strippers was --they were END strippers. He cut the SHORT end and not as most others--the long edge.
Always seemed to me a better way of stripping cards from the deck--a more natural hold
