Keeping your cards 'presentable'

Postby jokerdan » Jun 21st, '05, 17:24

I was reading an old card magic book, you know the sort, the ones your parents used to get you for christmas, and it said that you could keep your cards clean, buy rubbing them on bread. Being the remarkably clever individual i am, i tried this method, and was surprised that it worked, to some extent. Althoguh it took me a few mins to pick out all of the crumbs, I thought that it would be useful in prolonging the use of my bikes. Anybody else got any (weird if possible) ways of keeping their cards clean/in good shape?

Personally, I never have overly sticky, or dirty hands before I start any card work. If my hands are then I will simply wash them, dry them thoroughly and then rub them together or on my trousers or shirt, etc. to regain a little bit of their natural oillyness.

All the best,

Try buying a card protector. They are cases in which you keep your card cases - it helps keep the shape in good nick. You can buy them at magic shops and there are plenty of different kinds. I personally use a leather protector however I have seen magicians with metal ones.

Also keep your hands clean, use a close up mat when practising and if they get a little scruffy you can always give them a wipe with a duster.
However the fact is you can just buy packs again. I find worn cards are easyer to use however in bad shape they are unpresentable.
Always keep a few spare packs and take care of them.

I just buy seconds and use the boxes over and over until they rip, but thanks for the tips :)
