Need a new wand

Postby Alfred Borden » Dec 9th, '11, 16:56

Hey guys

Thinking more for the kids shows, was after one of the Mums made a comment along the lines of "not that big a wand for a big bloke"

So do people think I should just go for length or is girth important?

Want one big enough to satisfy the Mums, can it ever be too big?

Does size matter?

Are you watching closely? Then I'll begin...

Ok - that didn't take long -

The frustration of never having appeared in Innuendo Bingo was bugging me

Cheers Jammy!

I have the firecracker from there, that's got a big nob for a handle if your after innuendos. Ebay is the best source I've found for wands though, search for wooden wands and you'll find something to your taste.

B&Q is the best place for wands. Then you can cut them to any length you like.

Believe it or not, that used to my company - hence my username. I sold it about 8 years ago now. Nice to see they're still trading!

And they are pretty, but then they should be at the price.

If you are serious about Wands.

I supplied Ian Adair recently with a list of 143 Wands--compiled from a Wand Workshop I tutored some years ago.

He is currently writing a book on The Magic Wand--detailing many of them. Had written 160 pages by last week!

I am honoured to have been asked to write the Foreword to his book

I made my own want, cut from a length of perspex rod, sanded smooth and polished. It's a nice day glo trabsparebt green and the nature of the plastic means it glows at the tips.

I found that nice sized wooden wands tended to be too heavy whereas the lighter ones lacked inertia. The one I made was just right for my handling speed so I'm sticking with it.
