Here's the thing. I have never signed up to the Learned Pig, and yet I'm on their mailing list.

Skimming private email addresses when someone exposes them by mistake is not a good idea. In fact, it's technically an illegal use of personal data. Several magi have done so and then spammed me about their products over the years. They get added to my email client's blacklist. End of story.

End of story for you, maybe. But who knows what automated terribleness happens to those who end up on your blacklist...? Dun dun DUN!

no such much naive...just very complex. with synchronising mail servers in different time zones and datacentres all over the world, running email systems for clients all over the world - and our 'mail administrators' are a dedicated team of Microsoft's experts engaged full time.

Even the simplest of changes becomes a major project !

That's not quite how it works, but the effect is certainly the same.
There are some quite humorous messages appearing at the moment. And some very angry ones. I'm inclined to enjoy the situation rather than get upset, though

Dear magic friend,
Due to security issues for which I don't have neither the time nor the inclination to fix, I have decided to finish The Learned Pig Project on December 15, 2011.

Bummer.

Seriously bad news. Marko hadn't added anything new for almost 2 years but the store of books etc was absolutely excellent.

That is a shame.

If I knew how, where and whether it was legal/ethical, I would upload them all somewhere myself.
