I hear what you're saying, Tenko. I'm not saying I can't get it, I'm saying I personally don't like it. I haven't been caught yet, but I would hardly consider that the ONLY reason to continue using it. Also, to say that it's never been suspected is pretty naive. I'm positive I've had my share of spectators who have questioned the move. And for good reason.
The move, to me, seems completely unnatural. For instance, it makes no sense to me that you'd hold the cards in a dealer's grip the entire time, then SUDDENLY switch to an awkward looking overhand style grip. The first time I saw a card guy using it, I wondered "why can't he just deal them from the top?" The handling is unusual and the manner in which the cards are dealt seems flawed. I know I can't be the only person who has thought this about the glide.
If you like it, more power to you - I just wanted to hear some suggestions on alternatives to using the glide in this particular routine. Thanks for your input, Tenko.
I've taken nickj's advice and I'm working with a seconds deal, instead. It might look better, but the next problem lies in how the cards fall - since the routine requires such things.
