Well obviously I love magic, but magic isnt something that translates well to TV anymore in terms of large effects. P&T mind you have a great vehicle idea (that also crosses genre into other professions) and the Beeb have some issue with this format of theirs by trying to mix both. No doubt they can see the beauty of it and it is very popular, the success of P&T they will be well aware of (and its international format sales that went well in Canne last year) but you can see they have serious misgivings about the format by ditching their primary host, pushing a live format and a new emphasis on the "live vote" which is a nightmare in terms of production but so many c*** (not the best) D's and AD's think it adds "frission". That is a lot of changes.
I'd also be betting heavily that the presenter is in for some serious talking to, I have a 12yr old who was asking why he wasn't talking properly. He's either got a great excuse that his autocue was on the fritz or he just froze up and couldn't' deal with things such as the talkback and presenting and reading. Darren McMullen normally is a bit better than that, check out his back stage vids,

Also I know people like to knock the knockers and armchair warriors on the forum by saying how good magic looks now with this and will prosper, but if an 11yr old is asking why is the table is so thick it cant last forever until they get bored.
