I agree they seem to take forever to build a crowd. My main experience on the street has been festivals, where everyone knows I will not be passing the hat at the end, but I have found in those settings a few minutes is enough to draw a crowd. I think buskers fall into a traditional way of doing things, and a slow build seems to be part of the tradition.

Here I am building a crowd with the svengali deck. I only use the horn when working outdoors.
