What Size Expanded Shell Set?

Postby morrowsean » Apr 28th, '12, 17:59

Hi all,
Im looking treat myself to a good quality Expanded Coin Set with matching Flipper. I was thinking about either Schoolcraft or Lassen Coins, until i came across Bob Swadlings Pro-Line Coin Sets sold via Mark Masons website which seem to be great quality. My question is, What size should i go with? Morgan Dollars are nice looking but quite Big, but Walking Half Dollars may be too small.
What do most people go with? and What size offer better use of Effects?
Thanks!

What situations do you intend to perform in? Close up? Stand up/parlour etc?

Mainly Close up Situations, One on One and Table work 3-4 people.

This really depends on the size of your hands actually. If you have medium size hands than Half Dollar sized coins would work fine, but if you large (Death by strangulation) hands then Dollar sized coins would best. Though I will say this, once you get to a point where working with Dollar sized coins becomes reasonably comfortable, you'll end up finding out how easy it will be to use half dollars.

But back to my point, this all depends on the size of your hands. Morgan Dollars or Half Dollars both do well when it comes to close up magic.

Most go with half dollar size. The problem with the walking half dollars is that A, you will restrict yourself to using walking half dollars. Kennedy half is much more common. Here in the States anyway and most people don't think twice about them. Introduce a walking half and people may be more interested in the coin then the magic, true may be said about the Silver dollars.

Again, it is all about your presentation. So only you can decide.
