Hey there.

What do you think about this portuguese magician?

What about his achievements and prizes? (Magician of the Year, 1999 and Magician of the Decade, 2010) :)

Luis was one of the regular performers on the first series of The Magicians so we've seen him working and he did some good stuff despite the format of the programme.

Yeah Luis is quite brilliant.

He has been amazingly successful as a stage performer but what really stands out for me are his contributions to the community.

He is the host and one of the founding members of the Essential Magic Conference which is very good and also has used his technical know how, skills and contacts to put together both the Lennart Green Masterfile set and Dani DaOrtiz' Utopia set...two of my favourite modern releases.

Also, on the EMC 2011, he went through, from start to finish one of his pet routines.

Mid-show, he gets a voluneteer on stage and sends a camera crew with a live feed out of the theatre and via radio they are directed to the volunteer's car. The camera goes blank for half a second and suddenly the car has vanished.
At the end of the show, in the lobby of the theatre, the car is waiting, completely untouched, everything still locked etc.

The effect used no stooges, no pre-show, the car is never damaged but does really disappear. When he explained the method in full, I was in absolute awe.

"I want to do magic...but I don't want to be referred to as a magician." - A layman chatting to me about magic.
