Sick to death of the hype and the drip-feed marketing. :(

Go see The Raid instead, that one lives up to the hype apparently.

Looks a bit like a re-imagining of Alien/Aliens to me.

It's based in the pre-Alien time. The big gunner they find in Alien is featured in Prometheus. It's a sort of prequel, but at the same time, it's not.

Can't wait to go and see this! Know the guy who directed it and have seen one of his earlier films (Merantau), which was terrific. Missed him Q and A and screening in Cardiff two weeks ago, which I'm still gutted about...

He's on the Horror Channel tonight doing a Director's choice night. :) I missed the press screenings of The Raid, but almost everything I've heard on it has been positive. Really looking forward to the DVD release.

I thought this was supposed to show where the aliens came from and how they ended up becoming a huge threat.

Don't think so, from what I read the Giger aliens are nowhere to be found in Prometheus.

since i seem to be the only one to have actualy watched it so far...........

its as good as wolverine for a prequal / somware along the lines of the first movie type thing.
the story line flows well and dosn't jump around from timeline to timeline like some i could mention, there are a few plot twists to keep the story evolving, more questions are posed than answered and they leave themselves open like at the end to lost in space for a sequal / continuation.
the gunner part was a big let down and didn't realt make that much sense, that said there were plenty of action sequences and lots of pre-evolution of aliens and tie in from the other movies and the scenes themselves didn't have a cgi feel to them even though it was 90% cgi.

not giving too much away there are three main story lines twisting around each other, each with there own plot twists and own agender, charlie plays her part well but essentialy her character is a bit thin and pretty predictable, the robot gets a well fleshed out part and his agendy pushes the other two story lines along.
the other characters suport the main story and add a love story, abandomant issues and "I don't want to be your friend I just want to do my job" parts to it.
its a long film but dosn't feel like it drags too much along the way, worth a wach if youv'e nothing better to do.

. some of the questions are answerd, the planet they go to is not the aliens home planet and the reason for that becomes increasingly clear throught the movie, both in why there a threat to us and to a lesser extent what should be done about it and yes there are both kinds of aliens on the planet but not in large numbers.

I went to see it last night. It was alright, but you won't be missing out on much if you don't make it to see it.
