Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas - really appreciated. I have been reading some old magic magazines whilst on holiday (some people would call it an obsession) and my mind is filling up with ideas - so the problem is going to be limiting the ideas now rather than coming up with them! But thanks for the input, and do keep it coming if you think of other things...

My father does a vaudeville act with Romaine. Here is a promo clip. It may give you a few ideas. My father is the one on the piano.

For anyone that remembers this post (!) the performance came and went yesterday. I was really encouraged by the way it went - great reactions from the audience. I'm also grateful for time spent with a fellow magician who helped me with a couple of routines. For the record, this was the final set:

Joker Poker - from the wonderful Magic of Alan Wakeling - a great opener and 'establisher' of character etc.
Jumbo Whole Thing - a bit of a last minute addition, but suits my style/character quite well
Rope Routine - based on Fibre Optics
Jumbo Cards Across - this was the thing I was most pleased with - my friend and I tweaked and refined an old effect from Harry Stanley's Gems with Jumbo Cards - very clean and easy to do.
Campbell's Cube Off - to a particularly twee rhyming patter which seemed to fit the occasion and provided a suitable 'conclusion' to the show.

I am also pleased to have got a reasonable quality video of the show so that I can learn from the experience. The local mayor asked me if I did this full time or part time - but then I suppose it is their job to be nice to people...

Thanks for your suggestions and support.
