Ok,

I know i should use the advertisers of this site, but can anybody recommend me somewhere reasonable to buy some magic bits and bobs...flash paper and the like.

Much love

For random bits and bobs, try cards4magic.co.uk

Maybe if you let people know what kind of things you need they could be of more help.

Honestly the best places are the ones listed as sponsors. I've used a few others and with one or two exceptions they were just awful. The problem with magic shopping is that lots of places stock and sell knockoffs of professional products, which if you're on a budget may sound like a great sneaky way to save a bit of cash but often they're nowhere near the kind of quality you'd want for the scrutiny of spectators. It's a sort of twofold selection process, only the good successful shops can actually sponsor the site (I don't know how much they spend to get an ad there but it must have some price tag to it) and I think if one of the sponsors was accused of dodgy dealing, Mandrake would drop em like they're hot (as the rappers say).

The only places I've used and been happy with other than the sponsors are a couple of bricks and mortar stores in London (Well its nice to shop around) and Cards4Magic, which doesn't have a great selection of the new edgy effects that the kids love but has some older stuff and unusual gimmicks that you might not find elsewhere.

Oh and magic books by post, but they won't sell you bits and bobs, just books.

Now see I'm a Davenports advocate through and through with regard to bricks and mortar but online i just hate the fact it's the same price as Davenports or more, without the live demo and the ability to play with it a little bit to see if it suits my style.

And what is this rap you speak of Stace? lol :D

I'll have a nosey round then, and obviously i don't skimp, i hate knock off stuff, cos when I'm eventually a creator/inventor, i want the money/credit not some dodgy b*****d taking my idea and selling it cheaper!!

and with regards to things i wanted, I'm just not sure, hence the joy of going to a bricks and mortar shop!

Much love

Magic is sort of a specialist item so online retail doesn't scale as well as common consumer items. You won't see a monster warehouse like Amazon's with a magic shop logo on it any time soon.

Two of the finest purveyors of magical artifacts that I've come across are http://www.magicbox.uk.com/ and http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/ Both are always rapid in their dispatch and their customer service is sublime.

I've used (all through links on this site):

MagicTao
Dude That's Cool Magic
Emagictricks
Magic Box
Warped Magic (previous owners)

And had great service from all.

For just flash paper, not anything involved, have you looked on eBay?

Of the London shops I prefer International Magic but that's mainly due to location.
