Just a thought. You say that you're fairly new to the magic scene and so I'm slightly worried you might be getting suffering from what people here call CUPS. I'll let them explain. I'm sure that if you're new to a lot of this stuff it all must appear exciting but if you really want to become a good magician, amateur or anything else, you should probably slow down a little. From your posts you appear to be dabbling in everything you can get your hands on, buying up lots of different gimmicks and tricks. For one thing, that must be costing you a fortune, but another thing is that you're going to soon find yourself with lots of things you can do just ok.
It would be much better for you if you focused on learning maybe three or four effects well, and I mean really well per month or something. Then instead of having hundreds of things you can only perform sub-par, you'll have four or five pieces you can really dazzle and amaze people with.
I'm sorry, It's been a long day and my brains been switched off for a while now but I hope the message gets across. I'm not having a dig, I'm just trying to point you in the right direction. You have the enthusiasm, I think you just lack focus at the moment. A jack of all trades is a master of none.
