Moodini, not sure if you're still having problems with the one handed crash link.

I was practising the move for several hours, driving both myself and my housemates crazy in the process.

I'm not sure how you hold it, but I don't cover it using my fingers, I just hold it near the bottom edge of my palm. It is angle proof, quite. I've performed like this for at least 20-30 times and no one has caught me out, yet. It's behind the magic bar anyway lol, but I am usually quite surrounded.

About the one-handed link, I found that holding the elbow at 90 degrees, and also the shoulder-rib part at 90 degrees help. Furthermore, when tossing the rings up, try tossing them up in a straight line, then move your hand slightly forward, to try and catch it too. It helps. I'm getting a 70% success rate at least on that. Not too bad but I really want to get it to 100%. Sheesh.

I think a lot of people have problems with these two moves my self included, the DVD will help loads I've found but if you slow the dvd right down to frame by frame you'll see that shoot does somethings with his hands (finger) and he doesn't talk about in his DVD.

I'm back to getting this routine to a workable format, its such a masterpiece of work when performed correctly

Thanks.....will watch the dvd AGAIN and consider your points. I still get the bruising a bit on my hand and starting to think I come "too straight down" on the ring during the spin link. The Karate chop (obviously the motion not the aggression) move gets me right on my side of my hand and little bone at the base of my pinky....and the ring doesn't slide, move out of the way, or anything....just stops spinning and stays standing right between that spot and the table.

I am getting the one handed link about 20% of the time now.....that is way up from the time when I started this thread but the spin link is still bruising and working at a whopping 1%.......estimating of course!

Oh by the way I found out that I am holding it differently, much lower and not covered by my pinkie. It makes it easier for me, and no one has noticed so far :)

It is in the fleshy bottom bit of my palm. Maybe that's why it's easier for me to do stuff.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread but I recently decided to get the ninja rings and I wondered if I was doing any of it right. My question was: In the basic crash link (and all the further links derived from it) is the bottom ring actually meant to push the hand out of the way in the downward motion? Or are you supposed to expose the link just for a split second to let it past?
