Magic Tables.... again

Postby philipsw » Aug 31st, '12, 17:21

Dear All,

I know this is a regular topic and there have been many threads. Just wanted to share one other idea on this. If you favour the 'tripod base table' which several magic dealers sell, there is a cheaper alternative in the world of orchestral percussion - a 'percussion table' - which is essentially the same thing. With a nice drape or some elegant edging it will transform into a decent table. See, e.g.:

I hve opted for a bit of mdf covered in poker felt plonked on top of a restaurant tray rest. It works a treat. Not that I ever use it but if I do decide to perform it will do the trick ha

If I ever need a table I'm just going to put my attaché case on top of a keyboard stand.

Phillip--the Drum Stand, as it was once called, with a flange to screw onto the table top, has been sold by magic dealers for years. Average price used to be £42,

But your find looks good.

Thanks for the comments.
Allen - I know magic dealers sell them - which was why going to a music shop was cheaper :-) If you can get one at a magic shop for £42 snap it up!
Barry - I think there is a lot to be said for a keyboard stand/board/case combo.
For what its worth, I'm quite pleased with this one.

Cute photo, philipsw. You look like one of those little Lego men!

I expect you hear that all the time.

I might get one of these tables. Then again, I like the idea of not needing a table, not having to carry much around.

Thank you :-) And it would seem that Roger Hargreaves must have seen a picture of you before he wrote Mr Grumpy :-)

Ha! Yes. God wasn't kind.

If only I could look like my favourite Mr Man, Mr Square.
