I think this may possibly be the one referred to. I know the author personally and can confirm that he is a genius of the first magnitude.

This made me laugh very loudly.....i heard the author is the best playing card manipulator this side of Jupiter! (actually that sounds so good I'm going to advertise myself as that!) sorry Mr Lewis

No doubt you are referring to the rather silly Rough and Smooth deck known by North Americans as the Mirage Deck. It never used to be "rather silly" until I came along but it is now simply because there is absolutely nothing you can do with this deck that you cannot do with a svengali deck. Before I came on the scene people would say that you could fan and spread the cards which you couldn't do with the svengali deck but in my most wondrous book I have proved this to be wrong. Actually Joe Stuthard decades ago proved it to be wrong before I did but very few people had read his methods. The trouble is with rough and smooth decks is that the sticky stuff wears out and they become useless.

But we mustn't go off topic. I am surprised that only I and Mr Invisible have advised Aza to avoid the stage at this event. It seems common sense to me. Still, perhaps others will get around to agreeing.

Ah, Mark, don't be so closed minded; I refer to ALL things rough and smooth. Including, a combination or rough & smooth and svengali!

Best of luck Aza! Will be thinking of you and sending good vibes!!

(BTW Andy Nyman has a fantastic routine on his Get Nyman DVD where he uses a mirage deck in a most unusual way! Great for the stage - not close up!)
