Hi there. I wonder if any collectors might be able to help me. I was browsing a magic auction catalogue from some years ago and found an entry for:

"Dr Q Slates, Thayer Magic c. 1937. Without doubt the neatest approach to genuine spirit writing ever accomplished."

These look identical to a set of slates I acquired some years ago in a bundle. I have two questions.

1. I had always assumed the f**p had got a bit stuck or something had deteriorated over the years. But I'm wondering if there is some special construction I'm not aware of which would make it easier to move. Does anyone know details about this model?

2. Anyone got any idea what they might be worth?

googling them should give a rough idea of their value, as they seem to come up quite a bit.

Thanks for the info. Re. '1' I was looking for some tips on how they worked - perhaps by PM - if anyone has a set. Mine appear to be much older - looking identical to the 1937 ones I found a picture of....
