Ok, here's my problem: I am utterly failing at Corinda's step one. I seem not to be able to write a single letter or digit. Am trying to use the boon, because I keep my nails really short and other types feel really uncomfortable, but cannot find a correct position on the finger.

I know that the solution is "keep trying until you are able to", but I'm getting really annoyed at my inability and, since this is the "Support and Tips" forum, I am looking for a bit of support

Also tips, if you happen to have them.

If you want to know the problem: there are things that are barely readable and others that I am just not able to write. Number 8 is making me crazy.

Also, does anybody have any pictures of how he/she actually use the thing? I. e., the actual position on the hand?

I would recommend getting a TT version, it's a lot more stable, just as invisible and you can use it for billet switches, beyond that, are you writing on stiff card (like a business card) rather than paper?

How I hold the card
I hold the card pinched between the tips of my index and middle finger with my ring and little finger acting as a 'table' for the swami to write on.

Thanks for the tips, I tend not to like the look of TTs, but I know that it's all in my head, so I'll soon give it a try. I have just tried holding a paper with your technique (can't try writing at the moment) and I really like using my little and ring finger as "table" (at the moment I still tend to hold the paper with both hand.

As for the stiffness, I am using a whole small notepad with cardboard back, which gives me stability (or so I believe). Stupid question: do you write with your dominant hand or the other one?

The TT or Banjo Pick type Swami are, in my experience, the most reliable and easiest to work with but do understand, you don't have to learn how to write essays when using this gimmick, many a long career have been made by those that only made check-marks, X's, underlines and circles.

The choice of swami is a really personal thing, some people tend to like on type, other people like others. Personally I always use a boon but Bob Cassidy's banjo pick writer is really nice and well worth looking up. I think it's in the Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy but I'm not 100% sure.

I've been using a B.U.G. version of the boon, the larger pad helped me.

Bob shares the banjo pick in a couple of his books which are referenced in the Swami PDF I set the links to. I tend to use it the most, now days.
