Postby boombychilly » Jul 4th, '05, 14:52

Hi I'm a newbie and wanna start up with cards magic, thinking about buying this http://www.chiptricksonline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PLST&Store_Code=OP

Can any1 tell me how good this is ? Should I buy this ? If not, what book is best for beginners like me ? thanks a lot for the help.

Actually, for a beginner I would recommend that you get a DVD - it's much easier (at least IMHO) to learn the basic moves visually instead of having to approximate them from something you read. Once you know the grips, DL... you can then start to learn much more easily from books.

The DVD I personally would recommend is Born to Perform Card Magic, by Oz Pearlman. If you do a search, I'm sure you can find plenty of reviews here, but overall it's a great DVD and takes you "from beginner to expert". (Well, close enough :D).

I have to agree with Kati.

Born to Perform Card Magic, by Oz Pearlman is brilliant. I recently purchased this and have learnt so much.

I also purchased RRTCM which is good for the basics but I find learning from a DVD is much easier as you can always slow it down and pause it if needs be.

A visual of the handling is always better than text if you ask me. :D

That DVD is not for a newbie, that's for sure. Go for the mentioned dvd's.
