Magic Shows that you have been to

Postby Raven1s » Apr 4th, '13, 15:47

Lets see what you all at TM think,

I went to a Magic show yesterday and it was really good the crowd was not impressed but that happens I guess.

The show was done by Michael Jordan from High Jinx, he has been magic circles young magician of the year for the years 2009 to 2011, I loved his final trick his life story was really impressed with it Just need to work out how to learn it.

So what shows have you all been to lately and what you thought of it?

The last show I went to was Pete Firman, he was as brilliant as always. I was a little disapointed that he had a comedian there supporting him, he was very good but I'd have preferred to have seen another magician or just Pete himself.

Just curious, how can it have been 'really good' when the crowd wasn't impressed?

He was the last magician I saw too. I didn't mind the comedian but it did seem like a strange set up. Seen Derren live too on his "Something wicked..." tour

Last I went to was "Jurrasic Bark", not sure if that counts as magic or comedy but Piff is a fabulous magician and does not deserve to be upstaged by Mr Piffles. I hope he finds his princess :)

Seen in recent times:

Pete Firman - 3 times
Barry & Stuart - 3 times
Paul Daniels - 6 times
Derren Brown - 4 times
Piff

Also all those appearing on the Magic Circle Awards show last October, those at Blackpool for the last umpty six years, and those at the Ipswich Conventions.

The common link to all is that they were live, on stage or in cabaret, and all gave superbly entertaining yet individual performances - no complaints at all from me for any of them, they were all well worth far more than the price of the ticket!

He may still have been good. Sometimes the act doesn't fit the venue.

That is what I am thinking that it did not fit the venue, and that it was not advertised enough.

Wasn't there a similar situation last year when Dynamo was booked to appear at a venue on the Isle of Wight? Apparently his advance people hadn't checked properly and the layout and location of the audience was totally wrong for the routine he was going to perform, people were crowding forward to see some close
up stuff which only the 'front row' could see.
