Yes . people forget that children's magic shops are mainly prop based. These can be costly and need to be maintained. I run summer offers on children's prices but i normally charge what the others here are.

Well personally I have never done a wedding for only 30mins usually at least 2 hours and often 3 hours.Typically a wedding will have at least 80 guests at the reception, so 30 mins table hopping would be next to useless as you would have no chance of getting around everyone. Even if you only do around 7 minutes per table you could only do 4 tables in that time.

I don't base my price on wear and tear of props either, ( of course you need to take this into account ) typically you can charge much more for adult functions than for childrens. Also you do need to take into account travel time and petrol which is just the same for a 30 min show as for a whole day, so pro rata a 30 min show should be much more expensive.

I'd agree with Happy Toad.

The shortest that I've performed at a wedding for was 90 minutes and this was not at the reception but was to do walkaround whilst the photographs were being taken (about 80 guests).

The largest wedding that I've done was for 160-170 people in a marque and did table hopping for four hours across 15 tables. With a break, resets between tables etc. I reckon I was doing about 10 minutes per table and JUST got around within the time.

I couldn't see a 30 minute stint at a wedding working out for what I do and I probably wouldn't accept the work, certainly not at pro-rata rates.

I'm sure that those with experience will agree that it's both physically and mentally exhausting work. All that I will say is that my charges are significantly higher than those stated in previous posts.

I've got a mega 7 hour wedding tommorrow, and that is with 2 of us. I think I may be dead by the end of that.

I'm sure that it will all go well Happy Toad. 7 hours is a time frame that's similar to running two to three marathons (not for me I hasten to add  )

Lol yeah don't remind me. I'll let ya know if I survive it, usually 4 hours is the maximum I do, so this is a bit of a big jump.
