You won't like my answer, but here it is anyway. When Jay Sankey performes he gets a wow! Of course when he performes for a lay audience he pretty much gets a wow every time.
I've seen others perform this effect and they too get a wow factor, of course they get the 'wows' on almost everything they do.
It seems to me the wow factor is about your presentation and not the effect. If you are not getting your desired reactions from the effects you are performing now, chances are you will get the same responses from performing this effect. On the other hand the reverse is also true.
This answer may not seem like it will help you, it may even appear to be snotty. But if you take my words to heart they may in fact lead you to become a brilliant performer with any effect you choose.
