Source for card effect

Postby isb » Jan 31st, '14, 22:28

Folks

I'm trying to remember where I've seen a simple card effect - a packet of 10, maybe 13 cards is mixed by a spectator and the order they end up with is shown to match a prediction.

I have a method I can use for this, but it's not quite perfect and I'm sure I've seen it in one of the books (Royal Road, Expert Card Technique, Erdnase, Walton, Hugard's Encyclopedia, Charles Jordan are the ones I can remember looking at, though it may have been in one of the magazines...)

Any pointers to a suitable source for this type of effect?

Thanks,

Ian

It sounds like a method by Paul Curry - The Swindle Switch
See Paul Curry's Worlds Beyond "A Swindle of Sorts"

I've read this method used in many other sources, but all credit Paul Curry.

That's the one, but I don't have the Curry book. I've got it in something, but cannot recall where it is. If anyone can suggest...?

Thanks for the reference, though. Much appreciated.

Howard Hamburg teaches his variation in his Penguin Live lecture
Woody Aragon has an interesting use of the technique in his A Book In English called the "Swindle Shuffle"
I can't remember where else i've read it, but i know i have come across it in many places

The more I think about it, it was probably in a magazine. Thanks for your help :-)

The Dave Campbell Legacy has a pretty nice routine of a similar nature.

The absolute basic idea, the "shuffling" procedure generally used was shown to me in a primitive form
by a 7 year old in Tanzania.
He took 13 cards in order, and then had me shuffle them in a certain way, and again...and then showed me
that they were back in order. Was very good!
