An out of this world performance

Postby artychris » Jan 20th, '15, 01:10

I was doing a small party at a pub recently, and when after a coin bend, one of the ladies there said that she believed in psychic abilities... And that she believed that it was possible to read minds and so on... and even had some psychic ability herself!

So in order to put this to the test (in a nice way!), I did Out Of This World for her! (Or more specifically, Galaxy, by Paul Harris)

I did the routine really slowly, encouraging her to 'feel' every card, to get her as involved in the routine as possible...

By the time it came to the final reveal, she'd invested a lot in to it.

So I was expecting some sort of reaction from her... But she was completely unsurprised!

"Look," I said, "You got them all right!!!"

She replied in all seriousness, "Of course I did. I'm psychic!"

Good for her!

On a similiar note, so you don't feel all alone. I was once performing a 'Do as I do Routine" The spectator followed every move perfectly. I fanned my four cards out and all were face down. He showed all of his cards and one was face up, (as it should be). For 30 yrs this has always gone over perfectly to everyones entertainment. I explain that its okay we can try again. He gave me back the cards and told me no, "go home and practice and when you get it right come back and show me". I was almost afraid to ever perform the effect again. Just shows you what one not great experience can do even after 30yrs of success with it. Now of course I laugh. Lesson learned.
