Yesterday was my bday and while I celebrated with friends and family, the show must go on. Playing to a packed house of 100 people as I do 4 nights a week, I couldn't help but think " man, I've been at the stuff for 50 years and still I love it so." My mentalism career started about 2 years ago and I have to admit, it really suits what I'm trying to do with my performances. See I want to empower people and help them to believe, that all things are possible. That through our shared experiences we are one but still unique, in how we express those experiences which is what makes each and everyone of us special.
I've made my way around a few boards and haven't yet found one, I feel totally comfortable in. Seems that when you know your stuff, peoples opinions get in the way of learning. They see you as arrogant, when what is really going on, is confidence. There is a big difference between theory and experience, with the latter being of more use to others. However everybody learns at there own pace and trying to take shortcuts, will get you nowhere. So my advice is to put the time in. Learn how to create magic moments, instead of doing tricks. And elevate our art to the respected and useful place it once was. It's all our responsibility as magicians to do so. Anything less is just hackery.
I hope I'm met with love and kindness on this board and that commentar,y is positive. To much bickering, on the web. Remember the old adage from our childhood. "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all." When this common sense rule is broken, all manor of chaos brakes loose. I'm to old for such nonsense. So lets be positive and loving to one another and I'll help when I can? Maybe even learn a thing or two.
Thanks for being here and providing a place for magicians, to learn and grow.
Peace.
