New offer for South Tyneside International Magic Festival

Postby STMagic » Aug 27th, '19, 10:43

Hi everyone,

Here is another update about the South Tyneside International Magic Festival. This year the festival has put on a Friday day ticket for delegates for the first time, more details below :)

NEW OFFER FOR SOUTH TYNESIDE INTERNATIONAL MAGIC FESTIVAL

A POPULAR festival returns to South Shields this autumn, with a special offer for budding magicians looking to hone their skills.

The 16th annual South Tyneside International Magic Festival will take place at the Customs House from 11 to 13 October, with a packed programme of shows, lectures, workshops and a three-day convention.

And for the first time, organisers have created a single day ticket for Friday so that magic fans can make the most of the events on offer, including an opportunity to see popular American performer, Mario “the Maker Magician” Marchese.

Mario has appeared on TV shows including Sesame Street and Sprout and is known for his slapstick style and DIY robotic creations, which resulted in David Blaine calling him “the best kids magician in the world”.

Budding magicians can see Mario in action during the children’s show from 10am to 10:45am, followed by a lecture on children’s magic from 11am to 12pm.

Then Laura London, a member of the inner Magic Circle with gold star and whose close up and card skills have made her one of the most in demand magicians in London, will be giving a lecture from 1pm to 2pm.

Later in the afternoon, delegates will attend a close up workshop with Mike Pisciotta, resident magician at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, Richard Jones, the only magician to have won Britain’s Got Talent, and R. Paul Wilson, known for TV and film work including The Real Hustle and Royal Road to Card Magic.

And there will be another opportunity to see Richard Jones, who combines his specialist military training with his fascination for the art of deception, when he closes the day’s events with a lecture from 4:45pm to 5:45pm.

Magician Steve Gore, who organises the festival alongside South Tyneside Council, believes the new Friday day ticket will be very popular.

“We have a really impressive line-up of shows and lectures and, for the very first time, we’ve introduced a day ticket on Friday so that anyone who can’t attend the whole weekend can still enjoy some of the festival,” said Steve.

“Friday also offers a UK first with a very rare opportunity to see Mario “The Maker Magician” Marchese from the USA, which will be something that anyone interested in children’s magic won’t want to miss.”

“We’re delighted to be hosting all sorts of magic disciplines at the festival this year and, as always, the convention offers invaluable insight into the work of some of the best in the industry.”

Also performing across the three days is Xulio Merino, Olmac, Maga Gisell, Steve Hewlett, Mark Shortland, Safire, Nate Staniforth, Adam Black and Matricks.

The South Tyneside International Magic Festival is supported by BBC Newcastle and sponsored by The Customs House and Magicbox.

The Friday day ticket costs £30. Convention tickets for the full weekend, which includes entry to dealers, close up sessions, two gala shows and the exclusive Late Night Show on Friday evening, are also available and priced at £65.

How did it go, ST?

I'm orginally from the North East but based in Sweden now. I didn't know there was a ST magic festival. I'd definitely be interested in learning more about it. PM if you want to and we can chat.

Ringo.

Sadly the PM feature only kicks in after you've made five posts. Sorry about this but some time ago we had rash of spammers misusing the feature.
