Slydini's Knotted Silks routine is one of the most legendary routines in the history of magic. In this 2 DVD set, Bill Wisch teaches Slydini's Knots for the first time the as well as the Houdini Knots and the Silks and Glasses routine. This DVD set features the basic Slydini Knots routine, the Houdini Knots and the Silks and Glasses routine. Multiple camera angles are used and every possible aspect of these routines is discussed in-depth. Secrets and methods that were not included in the Slydini books are also included. Re: FREE Bill Wisch Slydini Lecture Slydini Knots 2 DVD Rele

That's a very kind offer for people.

Learning Magic in this manner isn't personally my cup of tea. However, this should please Mark - he's a Slydini fan I do believe.

Personally though, I think I'd rather watch paint dry than endure the knot routine element. It was bad enough watching Slydini performing it on tele back in the early 1980's. I'm still having to undertake regular therapy.

Yes, It is true that I am a Slydini fan and in fact I do a fair bit of his material. I never liked the balls in hat thing but in recent years I have altered it a great deal and with my usual immodesty think I have improved it somewhat. Ken Brooke once told me that Slydini himself wasn't that enthusiastic about it either even though he seemed to do it quite a bit. However, Ken said that he included it in the Ganson book because it would help the reader to understand Slydini's techniques of timing and misdirection better.

With regard to the silks I always enjoyed it and in fact I think in some ways it was my favourite routine of Slydini's! However, I will say that Lewis Ganson actually described another routine in print with the silks well before he wrote up the Slydini version. And in some ways the older routine was better especially for a stand up performer. It was the Charlie Edwards routine described in one of Ganson's Routined Manipulation books. Charlie Edwards was a street performer of the old school and his version was designed for the street. In fact I did hear some speculation or rumour somewhere that Slydini got the idea of the silks from Charlie in the first place! Maybe he read it in the earlier Ganson book! In any event the basic idea is as old as the hills and I actually saw the elder Blackstone do it recently on You Tube!

I never met or saw Charlie Edwards perform but I did meet a grafter once who knew him. He said to me, "They offered Charlie the London Palladium if he would do something about his teeth. However, he refused and said "No thanks. I do OK on the street!"

Anyway I recently came across a video of Slydini performing with Cher that I have never seen before. I think it shows him at his best. Here you are:
