Mandrake

I think it would be fitting, in recognition of his commitment to this forum and magic to award the title of Magical Maestro to Mandrake (Paul), he was the life of this Forum with over 27k posts, 6.24%... and I'm pretty sure it's because of his efforts that the lights were kept on for this forums.

I don't know, like a true magician, Paul never revealed the secret of this forum, even after years of me asking :(

I guess Bananafish is the most senior member now as the other moderators don't appear to have visited or posted to the forum in years :( and looking at the support account, the only other admin, they hasn't posted since 2020 so not sure if they are still around either.

Only just seen this sad news.

Since joining the forum, Mandrake was always so welcoming and supportive of my ramblings.

Rest In Peace mate.

Sadly, yes. He passed away few weeks before Christmas.

Could someone who knew him please give us a short obituary? I know nothing about him, not even his real name.

I've never written an obituary before, so will do my best:

Paul passed away peacefully and will be remembered by his Wife, 2 sons/daughter in-law and grandson. He ran his own small company until retirement. He had a great love for all things magical and a keen interest in the story and history of the Titanic.

Hi all
This is Mandrake's son, Pete. Thanks all for your posts; and thanks Blaab for the obituary.

bananafish did publish a Broken Wand post in Magic News after it happened a few weeks ago but frustratingly it was automatically deleted after a few days (forum settings for that section). I started a new thread with more details about Mandrake (Paul/Dad), with the reading I gave at his funeral and some photos so you can find out a little more about him. Please feel free to add comments/stories to this thread: https://www.talkmagic.co.uk/sutra485290.php

TalkMagic should continue. There is a wealth of information here, collected over the last 20 years, so it must not disappear. But it would be good to get more people using the forum regularly. I will chat to bananafish to see how I can help with that.
