There's a section in the reviews about magic for beginners.
Try there. There are no big secrets revealed on this site, I'm afraid.

The best advice I had as a novice was to buy two books.

The Royal Road to Card magic (for card magic) and Bobo's Modern Coin Magic (For magic with coins).

It's a heck of a good place to start, and you will find that alot of the gimmicked magic you can buy from various web stores requires a basic knowledge of the information that is readily available in these two books.

Good reply, although RRTCM and Bobo's can seem a little daunting for a complete beginner!!!

It depends what you're into: street magic, cards, coins, close-up, stage...

Browse around this forum for a while... come and post a reply with what type of magic you're interested in, and we'll point you in the right direction!

i didnt buy this trick however i worked it out because my friend tried to do it but sucked lol

I had one question do you use a regular can or a gimmicked can when you do this trick?

mr 7 the actual answer to both questions is yes as the instructions tell you what to do with a regular can to do the effect.
can't be any clearer than that due to exposure.

Why not buy the effect for yourself and find out, it's not expensive and now the hoohah of David Blaine doing it has died down, it should be well worth perfoming again.

However, I performed it before the effect became bastardised by the ignorant masses of wannabe Blaine's and Angels. When magic was magic, and tricks were just tricks.

The can is more than examinable afterwards.

I definately agree. Just the act of putting the can into their hands right after will add SO much impact to the effect. Trust me!

I agree if you hand it out after the trick it has a much higher impact. Also if you set it in, say a trash can in the first place then it doesn't look so awkward carrying around an empty can.

I've got this one but haven't tried it yet-- yes you can do it anywhere, there's not so much a gimmick but something is needed and yes you can improvise that too. You can end clean in a jiff, and it's 99% examinable unless some dingus downloaded the secret and likes to spoil the fun. They might go straight for it, sad to say.

Great party trick. And I'm going to try and hook it together with Paul Harris' "Fizz Master" for those who know it. Effect: carbonation travels from one can to another.
