Sorry for posting this in another thread but I think that my comments didnt make any sense in katrielalex's thread, I decided to post it again...

Is Art of Astonishment a book or video and if so would you reccomend me requesting it for my birthday which is in a little over a month. I heard that it is great. Are the effects hard to perform and do they require anything that you wouldnt find in a kitchen such as a TT or wax or IT???

OK, the Art of Astonishment are all books and there are three volumes. If you check out the various on line suppliers you'll get a good idea of what they contain but they aren't just books of magic, they also contain anecdotes, stories and other side topics which are useful and amusing but aren't instructions on how to do a particular effect. They are all a cracking good read but you might find more effects per page in 'ordinary' magic books.
