Pick Pocketing ...

Postby SirRawlins » Aug 26th, '05, 14:06

Hi There guys,

Sorry for starting ANOTHER thread but just so keen to learn from you lot ... only been a day so far and thoroughly enjoying myself ... used to posting on IT Support forums and i must say there is a much tighter sense of community here.

I have been shopping a bit online, got myself a raven and a few packs of Viper cards... noticed a book called "go steal yourslef" i think .... has anybody read this and is it any good? ... i couldnt see a review on it.

If not then can anyone suggest another book or DVD?

Cheers,

Rob

Not read that one... I can recommend Chappy Brazil's "The Watch Steal". I know it only covers watches, but this is an amazing start if you're looking to get into this side of things.

It's very comprehensive, and covers various types. All in all, a good watch! (Bad pun!)

Thanks for that Sym ... Watches is fine by me ... not THAT into pick pocketing stuff ... but makes for a good laugh on friends and family ... also, if you get and arrogant spec then its a nice way to humiliate him!

Cheers,

Rob

I have this one http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=381. I got it on a special offer for about £15 don't think it's worth the £28.99 they're asking but it is pretty good. It has all teh watch steals on there and everything you need to know really. It is pretty good but like I say not worth 30 pounds.

It is basically the DVD of "go on on steal yourself" (both by James Freedman) but it does make it alot clearer on the DVD. The book http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=391 is ok, a bit thin, but at £5 it's steal!

Don't take this as a telling off or nowt like that but it is not very nice to humiliate anyone whether they are a pain in the *rse or not. There are other ways to deal with troublsome spectators far better than just making them look a TW*T.

As for your original question Derran Brown offers some advice for steals in his book ABSOLUTE MAGIC.

Admitadly its not NICE to humiliate anyone ... but it is good for giggles ... especialy if its in front of his girlfreind! ehehe

Its like when you do a Super Slow move on the abitious card routine ... then ask him if he saw the move ... to save face he goes "yeah, course i did" ... you then go "funny .. i didnt do it yet" turn over the top card and its not his! lol

I dont usualy perform for people i dont know so its going to be more as a family affairs thing.

Cheers,

Rob

Haha, my favourite ever! It's cool when you get a know-it-all spec, who knows nothing.

I disagree. Hecklers, no matter what form they come in, deserve everything they get. ESPECIALLY when it's your family and friends!

Ha!, Thanks for the support Sym .. tell me, whats your point of view on keeping matey's watch once you've nabbed it?

j/k ... i wouldnt ever do that *suspicious eyes*

If you liked that then i put a couple of points in this thread http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic6820.php about how i deal with family ... also works with irritating specs.

The Raffles DVD is probably the best for pick pocketing. Not my field, but i know people who recommend it. :?

Hecklers just want some attention

I've been thinking of investigating this area (would be nice to do some watch and tie stuff as a finale to some of my card or coin routines and just wondered how on earth you practice this as I wouldn't want to try it anyone (even friends) until I could do it with confidence.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks
