Refurbished Card Table and Close Up Board

Postby GoldFish » Sep 23rd, '05, 14:00

Here are a few pictures of a card table I've just finished refurbisheing. The Top is covered in baize and is detachable for use as a close up board. Although the table is useable, it isn't completely painted. The problem is, I ran out of paint!

Hi

I am so glad you posted this as I am just about to start doing up my old folding card table and I hope I do as good a job as you have done

Did you find the top easy to remove from the table?

Dean

I would advise looking round antique shops or second hand furniture shops as I you can often find them in there and there not usually that expensive.

Two things.....

First table looks great!

Second......I can't get a good veiw of the deck you are spreading, it appears to be bikes, but what style/color/etc are they?

Excellent work! I'm sure you'll enjoy using that for quite some time.

Moodini - It's a Bicycle Ghost deck.

I think that you;ve done a great job on the table and having the skill and time to do one up yourself means that you can customise it to your own specification. You couldn't buy one with the removeable top and fold out baize I bet?

I wouldn;t go to an antique shop looking for a card table. They;ll probably charge you an arm and a leg. However, any brick a brack type shop may well have an old table for a few quid. Also, look through the small ads of your local paper. I picked up one a few months ago for a fiver but haven;t got around to doing anything with it as yet.

Well worth the effort!

Spot on, :D . I'd just been watching The Devil's Picture book and hence had been practising a bit of lapping. Therefore it was on my mind when I bought the Baize. Quite lucky really.

By the way, if people are particularly interested I'm considering building these close up boards for people. Not the tables, but to be honest I'm finding the removable board far more practical. The advantage being it can be completely; customized, size colour, servante (attached or detachable), foam, wood or a bit of both backing, "special items" withing the lining, etc.

If you're interested, send me a PM with your requirements and I'll see what I can do. :)

All the best,

Will Wood
