Putfile

Postby maRk tHE mAGicK » Sep 25th, '05, 22:43

Hi all,

Its been a while, my old computer packed up, so bought a brand spanking new one!! :D

Couple of things....

How can I retrieve files from Putfile.com, I really want some of my old clips back, that were stored on my old pc. Is it possible, or lost forever? I can view them, just can't retrieve.

And second of all, I really want to start work on my magic website, but don't really know where to start. Are there any good books or preferably sites that I can use, free would be best, but I don't mind paying for good info (for dummies!! :P ) I'm slightly familiar with basic HTML.

Hope to see you all again soon in the forums, and catch up :)

Use Freewebs to make your website. It's simple.

For the putfile thing, I don't think you can retrieve it. If you remember the name of your file, try searching for it on putfile. Also, if the videos are all posted here, why not search your old threads?

I recommend you start your own putfile page by signing up for one. It's free and you get to see your old videos that you've uploaded onto it.

Mark,

I've created a number of sites using MS Frontpage. I'm no whiz with HTML but it does the job for me easily enough. PM me if you want some info.

Cheers Stevebo,

I did say though that I know where they are, I have watched them again on putfile, but I want to download them. Normally you can "Save Target as..." But this isn't the case on putfile. When I uploadd them, the accounts wern't available then. I just want to put them on my PSP ;) :D

Cheers for the freewebs link, I'll give it a go.

Tenko, I'll surely be in touch ;) :D

Never use Freewebs!!!!! It shows the sign of someone who can not be bothered. And its c*** (not the best). Ask anyone that knows a thing about HTML.

1st thing to do would be to learn HTML, CSS, and a bit of JavaScript. Also use google to help you a bit, but follow these tutorials and you should be well on your way to a good site. Then, you will need to buy a domain name or get a free one, cjb.net for example.

These are the tutorials: http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp

NEVER USE FREEWEBS FOR A PROFESSIONAL LOOKING SITE!!

There. Thats my rant over with :D

Yes, I agree with ace_of_kev here - freewebs is not a good idea for a professional-looking site.

If you can make a file in Word, you can program a webpage in Frontpage. If you learn some CSS and/or JavaScript, you can make it better.

Look up HTML frames too for a standard navigation aid, or there are Javascript versions.

Thanks for the tips folks.

I know basic of html, so I'll be giving it a go. There is no rush for it, and I do want it to look remotley professional.

I'll be looking at those tutorials more thoroughly on my days off.

Ace of Kev, I wouldn't expect anyone to do it for free for me, so if I do decide I need someone to do one, I'll hire and pay you ;)

I managed to get my file back from putfile, I trailed through my Temp Int Files and found them, there was probably a much easier way, but as the pc's pretty new, there wern't too many files to go through

Likewise, I'm sure most people here are much better at Javascript than I, but if you need any help with it just let me know.

Not that it matters now, but for anyone else reading these forums there was an easier way to get your files back. If you know how to find them, go to the page that plays them and right click on the video and click "properties". Whatever it says by "location" you should type or copy into your address bar. This will ask you whether you wanna save as or whatever. I'm sure you'll figure out the rest.
