hi, new and have a question

Postby skinnymug » Oct 24th, '05, 03:25

Hi,
tonight i just had a coworker show me a trick that was cool, didnt look very complicated, and i want to learn. He took a $20 bill and made it float in between his hands. Then he did the same thing with a nacho from my plate. How is this done or how do i learn it? Thanks for any help!

ok i've read a few posts and see that nobody likes to "reveal the secret".
So my question is, how do i go about learning how to do this trick? I dont really have any extra money to be buying any books or videos to help me, so where can i go where someone can show/tell me how to do it? Hope you understand what I'm saying, thanks again for any help!

Sorry to sound hard but if I don't tell you a moderater will. This is not o forum for begging for free tricks. I am sorry that you cannot afford to buy but hey, I would like an XJ Jaguar but can't afford one, please can you tell me where I can get one free?

If you are new to magic and are serious you can get a load of friendly advice in here, just not free tricks.

Hi, skinnymug - JW is right as usual, we really can't tell you how to do things, not because we're mean and nasty but because the secrets are the intellectual property of those who invented/discovered them. If you seriously want to know how to do those effects then you will have to pay out a certain amount of cash but, in most cases, not a lot of it. A fiver or so for a basic book of Magic which will give you thirty or more tricks to try - not exactly high cost stuff! Check out the Review section - there are loads of possibilities in there - and best of luck!

Hmmm! Which do you want more - to learn how to do that ... or have that extra burger? None of us have "extra money" but we decide what we want most and go for it. Sure, some things seems expensive but there are ways (try eBay!).

Also, do you really want to "learn" or are you just curious? Good luck in whatever you decide is your path.

i pretty much have some interest in learning how to do this, and I'm not sure where to start. Is there a cheap book or something that can help me do this? I dont really want to learn a whole ton, maybe after this one i will gain some interest. Anyone know of a book which specifically addresses this trick that you know of? I;m from Canada, know where i can get it? Thanks again.

I guess I am both curious and want to know how. I want to know how it was done, but also be able to do it sometime and just fascinate someone with it. It would be cool to one day sitting with someone randomly do something like this to see their reaction...you know what i mean?

I know just what you mean ... you want to be a performer ... to make people smile ... to amaze ... to suspend reality. I did that many, many years ago and now I still come to learn. It cost ... in time and money. I sacrificed that burger (and many more burgers, holidays, houses, cars ........) When you have learned one "trick" you may want more. Good luck ... make the sacrifices if you wish, then you will not have to ask "how is it done?" The answer from most here would be in the order of "It's magic". But most will help if you show the willingness to learn rather than the curiosity to just know how. Decide your path.

Best wishes.

We have quite a few Canadian members who might be able to give you ideas for local sources but I'm sure they'll all tell you that a few burgers will have to be sacrificed. The upside is that burgers are fattening, magic isn't (well, not much anyway)!

k i guess i can puta few dollars out and buy a book or something to help me out. I dont need burger and car comments though, pls.

So does anyone know of a good book which specifically refers/talks about/teaches the trick i described? I would be very interested in getting it as i think this trick is just to cool. Also, is it very advanced or something that I am going to be able to figure out and do with some time? For you people who do a lot of "magic", is this one very hard to do? Thanks for your help, give me what you can without obviously "revealing" the whole secret.

I just did a Google search and found a US source (there are probably many more in your area) and they're charging US$4.95 plus postage. I'll PM you the details  !
