Hi guys

i went to see this restaurant owner yesterday, her husband son and magager was there, she wanted to see me perform she liked what i did and has booked me to do a show next sunday.. hooray!!

they want me to do a little caberet as well for about and hour then after that do some table hopping,

i've had many thoughts and ideas from everyone on what i could do for the caberet

but i was thinking it'll be appreciated if i can get more ideas,

i want to do something where i can include the customers as well, i have got a few planned but worried it might not last long enough, the question really is how many effect can one do in an hour without over doing it and with out getting the others bored, im planning to keep a little comedy run to it but to a min.......

when we do caberet is it supposed to be big illusions like chair suspension and levitation?.

for me it is more like interactive style, where the customers get involved, or is more direct

any ideas?

depends on your style my friend you could do a 20 min sponge ball routine or a 3 second vanish, in essence work out a comftable routine and then time it with a friend as the spec and see how it goes from there, keep a few things in reserve for unexpected occurenses.

not quite true, caberet can be a cut and restored skipping rope with thoughs sissors that get stuck all over the place oe won't cut / close / open.
or it can be a sliding die box routine with a three foot die box, think of it more like karrioke for magic or open mike at the comedy club.
will you be useing a stage, if so make use of the backdrops and stage senery.

a classic example of this would be to tape a large print of a force card to the back of a chair, bring a lady on stage and walk her around the back of the chair so she see's the card and after the you don't now me and we havan't pre arranged anything speach   , tell her you are going to sit her down blind fold her and have her guess a card chosen at random by another audience member, you'll be amased how compliant assistants can be   .

this quicky routine could take 5min's or could be spun out for 30min's as you need, give it a try. :P

ps pm me if you want a nice routine involving a radio mike, sound man and a large notepad.

Good luck with the gig, Jags - it'll work out fine, and the best thing, is that you'll learn SO much from it.

That is a BRILLIANT idea! Can you imagine the looks on the kids' & parents' faces when a yard-size dice vanishes in front of their faces, only to reappear at the other end of the room?! Jason, your posts NEVER disappoint.

Thank God you came back to us!

i built and used my own in a few shows and it was a real screamer, for reasons of practicality it was a 4 door, 2 front 2back, version.
the final load being yellow and black doves, back in the day when animal cruelty was in its infancy, die being yellow with black spots.

it was great fun opening the doors and pushing a giant wand through then running to te other side lifting it making a loud thump and opening that side, wanding it and acting like i had,nt done a thing.
