If a person asks to see a trick again, or askes how I did it I use the same answer: "like this... Here i'll show you the move that makes the trick work."

I then moe into a trick that has a similar premise, but a totaly different handeling. Usually after this second trick you can refuse to do any repeats and keep face.

I try to allways have two trick lined up that flow well together.

you can also say, "Here I'l show something else that is really cool," and then go into another. The thing is after you do two or three tricks you earn the right to do whatever you want. They will stop bothering you most of the time.

There are whole archives of things to say to "How did you do that"...

"Very well, thank you!"
"I'll tell you *whisper* magic!"
...

I know that it's an old one but when asked how did you do that?, I always reply:

" if I told you I'd have to kill you"

this still always seems to get a chuckle

Do that one again! "Oh you like that one.......well then you will definitely like this one!" Move into another trick of a similar theme.................

How did you do that? "Practice & Talent.......look into it!" or "If I told you, would you enjoy it as much?" or "It is too complicated to give a quick explanation, and even if I did explain it.......it takes hours of practice anyway!"

It is quite simple I did the retention pass with a crumble whie extending the hand in the 3 o'clock position while you were watching the other hand I didtched it using the Ammar sleeving priciple. with... Or I did a flustration count followed by a DL with a riffle force....

Then just look at them and ask anything else??

Nice ideas but I think it may be better if you used made up jargon rather than names of actual magicians and methods...just my thoughts. It also demystifies the magic in my opinion as it's bringing it down to a technical level. Yeah, they know magic's not real, but we can at least avoid bringing the ideas of technical methods in to it surely? Personally I just say something like "Actually, there was something else I wanted to show you" or "Maybe another time. For now, let's try this..." etc.

Thank you all for your suggestions. They are all great. i really like the "very well, thank you" i also use the "if i told you i'd have to kill you" one but i add on "and I'm runnig out of places to hide the bodies" it seems to get a bigger chuckle from most people.

It depends if you are doing a single trick or a routine. If you have more tricks to perform (or should i say if you feel the spectators want more) then something like "if you thought that was good you'll love this.........

if your done then:

Very well
Magic
I could tell you but then i'd have too.......
it's a secret
BURN IN HELL YOU SECRET SEEKER *pokes them in eye and runs off*
I wish i knew
I'd explain it to you, but your brain would explode
say nothing and just stare at them (ala blaine)
Can you keep a secret?................So can I
Sorry,lessons cost extra

Well, if someone asked me"lets see that again"I would just repeat the trick until they got fed up and if they ask "how did you do that" I would say:
"Its MAGIC!!!"
