playing cards, and setting them on fire!

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

you should try using spray paint as (i just thought this up) you could spray the back of your cards without the audience seeing them... show the audience cards with black backs(if you used black paint that is), light them on fire... when that goes out fan them the oppisite way (if the top of the deck was on the right at first now fan them so the top of the deck is on the left) they will think the fire made the deck change color...

i promice i did not get trick from anywhere... i just thought it up like one minute ago so i should be allowed to share this secret

Or if the spray paint is to thick and nticable, you could use spray on deoderant which is also very flammable. However, I've come to realize that you need straight up paper card. Plastic ones will not work and that thin layer of wax found on Bicycle cards also ruins the burn effect.

You have a topic on this, and how in the world are you supposed to spray the back of cards without anyone seeing?

The problem with a lot or aerosols is that the contents are often only flamable when they are being expelled from the can as it is the butane that is in the can that ignites (and because the particles are fine). Once the contents touch a surface and stick, they often lose their flamable properties and quite often they will be more difficult to burn.

Spray paint is a classic example of this

I think that they might smell the spray paint and here it coming out, even if you manage to keep the can hidden in your pocket and manage to spray them without anyone seeing.

Oh, and would the spectators not already have seen the bicylce backed cards, so wouldn't they think it odd that they were black?

And if you sprayed them, then showed them to be bikes and you burned them, then the specs would just think that the cards had been chargrilled.

It's a nice idea, but it is not practical, and you would be lucky if it worked

ok enough of this nonsense.. think about what it is your trying to do.

you are trying to set fire to a deck of cards and then fan them?

Pros...
1) ok it may look good the first time but after that its boring
2) cant actually think of a 2

Cons..
1) spraypaint will colour the cards
2) your idea for misdirection is terrible... hand out some coins for inspection while you turn your back and emit a strange whistling sound and a smell of aerosol?
3) it wont work!
4) you'll set yourself on fire
5) it wont work!
6) theres also a good chance of setting whatevers close to you on fire when you drop the fan after you burn yourself
7) it wont work!

i mean think about it.. your meant to be 21 not 12.. if you really must use fire then learn about it first..dont just jump in and start igniting stuff.

oh yeah.. it wont work!

and to stop any further nonsense of this sort this thread will now be locked
