Butterfly Cut

Postby greedoniz » Jan 17th, '06, 12:35

Hello

I've been practicing this for a few days and have got it down pretty smooth (even if I say so myself) but today when using a new pack still in new pack order I realised that although it keeps the top and bottom stock the same there seems to be a slight bit of mixing in the centre of the pack.
I have learnt the move from Jay Sankeys 45 Dvd and so has no explaination of whether it is meant to leave the pack in the same order or not.
So I guess my question is: Is the butterfly cut meant to leave the pack in exactly the same order or am I actually doing it right? :?

The butterfly cutr does not maintain the deck in stack order - sorry. It's just a nice flourish.

Cheers for that.

At least i know I'm not doing it wrong. Mind you it does keep top and bottom the same so for alot of card tricks it's still useful I suppose.

Nice one

As you do this flourish the stack is split into four packets. If packet 1 and 2 are in your left hand and packets 3 and 4 are in your right then the final packet order will be 1,3,2,4. So as you correctly surmise top and bottom are kept in place, while the middle is exchanged.

This is simply a behaviour of the flourish, but that doesn't mean you can't use it to your advantage.
