I agree that some of the magic was text book stuff. I know how some of it was done. The razor blades, and the digging-the-lady-up bit, but I'm interested as hell in how they did that hobo bit, with the message board.

Due to the nature of the programme, it's not unreasonable to assume that camera trickery could have been employed to an extent?

I'd like to hear some credible tales of prior showings of these two guys... like, what's their primary background - magic or theatre?

Just a pity that neither one does the thinking

You either love it, or you hate it, but it is worth watching before you go to bed.

3 years later and they're still going strong. And trust me, we're going to see alot more of them. Which I personally think is a really good thing. No matter if you like they way they do their tricks or even if you like the guys themselves, the fact of the matter is they've got the balls to try something new with magic and see what happens.

I love their original show, Magik. It was showing what magicians would really do if they had real powers. The Hobo doing the Miser's coin routine, the Charity worker on the street, the hidden camera bit putting razor blades ready meals, even the mental in the hospital. Now you will say "if I was a real magician, I wouldn't do any of those things". That's because you're not them. All of their performances are born of their own personalities, which is the key to a good magic performance.

COUGH Penn and Teller COUGH

But of course we all know that isn't true, and I'm sure it's not true of Barry and Staurt aswell.

All the best,

Will Wood
