How do you feel about "Emerge Triumphant"?

Just wondering how you guys feel about this trick?

I bought this trick absolutely aaaaggggggeeeessss ago. I never really practiced it. It was until like a few days ago when I thought I'd give it a try and man is it easy! All this flourishing I can definitely be confident that it has helped me with my sleight of hand magic also. (Point is flourishing is good for sleights hehe). I can honestly say that when I learn new sleights, it takes very little practice for me to do, and I really do believe that flourishing has played a huge part. Flourishing allows my fingers to get used to the feel of cards and my hands and cards kinda become one (old Chinese prophecy?! LoL). Anyways... back to Emerge Triumphant.

This is definitely a trick that I will use in my repetoire (sp?). The reactions that I get from this is sooo amazing. I did it to my friends that I always do magic to and he actually freaked out today. I did the triumph part of the trick and he was like "OMG OMG! That's my card!". So I just went, "Really? So how about if..." *Shows deck in order*. *He almost faints* LoL!

I am quite ambivalent about Emerge Triumphant (shall I call it ET?) actually. On the one hand, it is a very strong Triumph effect and one that is very easy to do (even the shuffle). The kicker is also a really good effect. On the other, you need to set up the deck for the reveal, obviously, so it's not really impromptu. And if you're going to leave out the reveal, then it's probably easier just to do a Slop Shuffle or a Tenkai Optical Reverse...

Just my thoughts,

Kati

Although I am more an impromptu magic kinda person, I am still fond of ET. The reactions are so great that I don't mind the deck set up. As long as the convincer in the beginner is good enough, then it's perfect. It's even better doing this trick to friends because of the patter I use. I just say "Hey, did I tell you about what happened when I was doing this trick the other day? No? Actually, let me show you what I did..." And boom, that's when you start! :D

True, true. I guess it's really just personal preference.

One tip I picked up somewhere is that if you want to use a stacked deck, ET is a good way to open as it implies a lot of shuffling. Just don't use the display at the end and the speccies will be left with the impression that the deck was thoroughly shuffled even though, of course, it wasn't.
