Cards and omni deck dimensions...

Postby peraklo » Feb 22nd, '06, 19:27

Hello...

this is my first post here but im looking to become a regular :-)

as it is visible from the subject, i have 2 questions...

1. what are the exact (in milimeters) dimensions of a poker playing card?
2. how thick exactly is the Omni Deck?

related to the first question, is there anywhere some sort of a blueprint for a playing card, so if i was some sort of technitian, i could do the card from for example a piece of thin metal? so, the blueprint would have to include height, width, dimensions of rounded angles (diameter i guess)....

Thanks for the answer,

Peraklo

The easiest way to deal with point one is for you to buy a deck of Poker sized cards and measure them - that way you can be sure of accuracy.

For point two, perhaps Ellusionist wouild be able to advise you but they might ask why you want to know.

i know it would be the easiest to measure, but i was just wondering what are standard and accurate dimensions...

And for the second one, i dont think that Ellusionist crew would help me cause i need the info cause im planning on making one of those decks myself (for myself)....

thanks

Sorry but we can't let anyone give out information like that. If the item is marketed then the manufacturers have all the rights to it. If we gave out the details, we'd be legally liable so please don’t ask for anything more like this.

anyway, there are a few different manufacturers of the omni deck so you wouldn't get a precise answer, even if we could give one to you.

Carefull consideration needs to be given to the use of an omni deck. It can ruin a routine or make it outstanding. It depends on who's hands it's in.

Personally, I've played around with it but never felt comfortable performing with it outside of the usual friends and family.

I've just bought the Paul Harris 'Stars of Magic' video and I've got to agree with sinajar - Solid Deception is a fantastic effect. Basically, you perform a short ambitious card routine, and you ask the spectator to cut the cards but s/he can't because all the cards are actually stuck together in one block. But you were using them before! Brilliant.
