So… you have a card selected and returned to the deck. You mix the cards and return the entire deck to it’s case (with the top flap left open). While you gingerly hold the case by your fingertips, one card is mysteriously seen to rise from the deck. It is clearly seen to be in the middle of the cards in the box, and it rises up for half it’s length. The spectator removes the card and acknowledges that it is his selection.
You tip the deck onto the table and let the suspicious audience members have a good old snuffle through ‘em. They aint finding anything buddy!

This is Dave Forrest’s take on the eternal Rising Card stunt. It is a ‘mildly’ gimmicked version that allows you to be pretty damn clean and still able to make that plucky little card rise out of the box!
You get a lovely looking 7 page document which details the full routine (with handling and performance tips) AND how to make your gimmick. And if you can open your wallet to pay for this effect then you can make the gimmick. It’s easy-peasy. It’s also very clever and very sneaky.
You can use your normal performance deck for AIR. Once you have your gimmick you’ll be ready and able to do this at the drop of a hat.
AIR is typical of Monsieur Forrest’s intelligent thinking. His effects tend to be streamlined and ‘idiot-proof’. Yep, there are certainly many ways of achieving the Rising Card trick, but AIR utilises a much less clunky methodology than many versions, AND it packs as part of your everyday magic arsenal! It’s a beauty!
Oh, and AIR is virtually sleight free! Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!
