i love the look of chinese coins, and silver dollars, though i live in the UK and most of our coins are boring.

im looking for a foreign coin thats really beautiful to do magic with, ie coin rolls, vanishes, etc and not sure wherre to look?

Ive checked ebay breifly but dont really know what im looking for.

So basically, if anyone has any advice as to where i can find a nice coin (or more than one) what coin to use, how much it would cost me, how easy it is to use etc etc, it would be appreicated.

your best bet are american half dollars, theyre a nice size for most stuff plus you can also get "gimmicked" versions easily..most commonly used are "kennedy halfs" which in 1964 were actually 99% silver but in later years the silver content was dramatically reduced.. personally i like the "walking liberty" half dollars as the design is better looking but its all down to personal preference.. there are also "barber halfs" and "Liberty halfs" but they're older still and so cost more.

One thing to remember is the new a coin is the easier it is to work with since the edges are better

If Cyprus aren't using the euro which I think they still arent then there are some really nice cypriot coins, I made a necklace for my daughter out of some of them. There are different sized as should be expected.

They're roughly the same size as a US silver dollar - but are much lighter and have a nice edge to them, making them a breeze to palm.

I like these because of the assortment of colors, which makes color changing even nice. This site sells them individually, or along with an expanded shell for added fun!

thos chinese coins are exactly the type im after. anyone know where i can get some in the UK?

Prices seem a little high but might be close to the cost of importing from the US and Clive & Co at cards4magic are worth dealing with - very supportive and helpful.
