Differences in Card Brands

Postby arkos » Mar 21st, '06, 21:09

Hey im just wondering about differant brands of cards, at 1st i started with a cheap supermarket brand (c*** (not the best)) then i got my 1st bicycle deck and boy did i notice the big differance. I was just curious on other brands thoe, such as Steamboat, Tally-Ho, Hoyle Shell backs and USPCC Texan #45's which is meant to be some antique card, I hear bicycle are the best, but were wondering what the differances were in the other brands? Maybe some are better than other for certain things, ie: Flourishes, any comments would be appreciated :)

Thanks.

This topic has popped up all over the forum. Run a search and you'll find plenty of info.

My own two cents - Tally Ho's are excellent quality. I find them more durable than Bikes, and slightly better quality.

I've never used Steamboat or Texans', so I can't comment.

Hoyle used to be good, but ever since they changed the finish the quality has been lacking. I don't mind them, but I prefer Bikes.

I don't do flourish work, but I've heard people prefer Tally Ho for that. For straight card magic, Bikes or Tally's are a sure thing. Hoyle shell backs will do the job, too.
