What do you look for in a magic shop?

Postby seige » Mar 30th, '06, 20:13

I've started an online magic shop, and I am curious to find out what people look for when thinking about buying online.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated!

Personally, I want to see a shop with a reasonable selection of goods, good prices, and easy purchasing system.

What i hate is a shop that has say 1000 products but only 300 in stock. The rest they back order. Better to have good stocks of a smaller range than low stocks of hundreds of products.

May i wish you the very best of luck with your shop. I hope you do really well.

I like to see products that other people are unlikely to have seen, and the words "in stock"!

Free P&P, honest info about practicallitys because in effect over the web you are putting your trust in the dealer that the product is good, good prices and if possible demos of everything so you can see the trick.

Hope that helps a bit

PS if possible Sankey products.

Cheers,

Honestly, and this is quite sad, I'll shop around and look for free postage and packing. For some unknown reason, I despise paying for it, and will avoid it at all costs.

One thing I do like, and that's quality reviews attached to the products on a site. Not reviews in txtspk, or just slagging off whatever and whoever, but proper, real-life, well thought-out reviews.

Just a thought, but how about some video demos and maybe a small free gift. This seems to work for the big dealers. However (as you know!) you could easily get something small in bulk and use it as give aways. That might help.

Free shipping is a wonderful bonus, but it doesn't bother me to pay it (unless it's an unreasonable amount).

One thing I look for is more obscure products. I like a healthy selection of new and popular effects, but it's also nice to hunt through the entire site and find things you have either never seen, or rarely find.

Since you're talking about shopping, Seige! Any eta on shipping to the states? I am REALLY hoping to get my hands on Clued? !!

I'm also not bothered about paying for postage but what matters most to me is a speedy and reliable service.

Also, emails answered quickly and not in days as i can often email for information before making a purchase so I expect the person responding to know some basics about what they are selling.

Well, I've now added stock indicators which are live and dynamic, plus...

ALL ORDERS over £10 are FREE POSTAGE

and INSTANT DOWNLOADS are available to ALL COUNTRIS

and THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW NEW ITEMS ADDED

and I'm STILL WORKING ON IT...

my aim is to keep the punters happy ;)

By the way, anyone think of something which is hard to get hold of in the UK, let me know... I'm putting some orders together...

it would be a great idea to get rid of the google ads, very unproffesional especially seen as they advertise your competitors what good is that?

i dont see google ads on penguin magic or on ellusionists just ads for there own products
