Criss Angel Masterminds Vol II

Postby sorcerer of the dark arts » Dec 26th, '05, 05:57

Criss angel has volume 2 of his Masterminds DVD on sale, where you can learn how to levitate just like he does.

Here is a link to the site selling it along with a promotional video of Criss levitating.

The method he uses is nothing new and is relatively simple to work out if you watch the video on the site

Well, I am not sure if I like this.

- Criss advises performing for one person at a time
- Very angle sensitive

Yeah, but at the same time, he performs it for a full cafeteria in his video. Well well.... how good could it be....

This has always been my problem with Criss Angel. He is a stage magician trying to become a street performer using the same old tricks. I have always liked closeup/street more because I personally think it requires a bit more skill. (This is my subjective opinion. Not looking to start a debate.) That is why I haven't been much for Criss Angel. A bit too... I dunno the word.

Well, this is my first msg in here., so I will be short and Straight.

I got This DVD...

Here´s my humble Review...

The Effect

The effect is quiet nice, but is not actually the one you see on the specials from A&E. Well actually is part of it... Many of the other levitations you see on Criss Angel Seasons are faked by the cammera.

Cost

The cost of this DVD is WAY TO HIGH!!! $100!!!

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Lets say is a 2,... I can say that much... but you dont need that much of training to do it.

Angles problems... its kinda hard to get it work just like you see it on the show, actually in the show many of the audience are able the HOW TO...

Review

Many many many Blah blah blah,... You can learn this levitation ina ten minute video. Of course no one would buy a 10 minutes DVD for $100... so you get an Interview with Criss Angel, some bonus material... but nothing that make the $100 worth it.

And to finish this, you will need to spend about another $100 or more to get it to work... (you need to make the gimmik).

Overall

This is a little akward... You buy something that you think it will RULE,... but actually sucks... sorry Criss, this is stealing money from people.

IMHO this is the review... hope you get something out of it...

Criss Angel Levitation Review

Postby StevePresto » Mar 9th, '06, 14:25

I purchased the Criss Angel levitation DVD a month or so ago and here are my thoughts -

+ Side -

It looks fantastic if your spectators see it from the correct angle.
No more having to buy drinks for the ladies if you can pull this off.
The DVD is not that expensive considering the detial given within.

- Side -

You have to make the gimmick yourself...... Now I saw loads of posts saying that this was a pain in the ass and put it down to people being lazy.... TRUST ME, making this thing is a pain in the ass.... the time spent getting all the bits you need and then putting it all together is ridiculous!!

The clothes you have to wear when preforming this effect do look rather strange... Ladies may like the trick, but they sure won't think much of your dress sense..........

So to sum up... If you want to perform the trick exactly as on the demo and don't mind giving up a few weekends to the cause... then go for it....

However I have since bought the Icarus effect and this is much superior.... Wear the clothes you want - Not so angle sensitive - All you need to make the gimmick is supplied - You can see the reactions you get as you will be facing forward..

About the cafeteria one, some of the people there are probably "in this trick" cause they can actually see the trick, but they wont say anything, and still just clap and smile. :)

The issue is that not everyone is just like that,... HEY!!! LOOK HE´S NOT FLYING!!!

There are lots of F$%""·$ out there.

But anyway in the correct angles the illusion is good enogh.

I think its a pretty smart effect... but I cant use it because well... it takes too much effort. I personally don't mind the cost of the DVD because... well... I download them fromblahblah or burn them from my friends... And yes, I thought that all of the Masterminds DVDs have too much "blah" in them as well. Although I love Criss Angel, listening to him talk on and on about nothing in particular can be rather dangerous... -___-

first of all you have absolutely no case for complaining about the amount of "blah" on the dvd since you are nothing more than a parasite who leeches from other parasites. If you want an effect then buy the thing but then again.. that would be too much effort also i suppose.. go back under your rock and hopefully you'll fester there for a long time

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

Too much effort......... personally I can't use it....... What a sad little person you really are! I suspect your main problem is that you dont realize magic takes time to perfect, in the same way that you don't realize pirating is illegal!!

Because that's the way it works in the civilised world. If you need something then you pay for it - you don't just take it for free.

I just got this video and I have to say that I was very upset. For one it was 100 dollars. Too it looks to be a pain to make. Three it is very angley. Spend your money on the wild levitation and save yourself some time and money.
