What Should I (Larry) Do To A Goth?

Postby Delude » Apr 25th, '06, 19:24

I was just wandering how all of you people make routines and what exactly they consist of. I have laods of tricks but i wandered what you do and what you involve. like is a routine strictly one time of magic such as card or coin and do the tricks link in to each other?

Thanks :D

work from the final effect backwards.
it goes: what do i want to achieve? now how do i do it?

i've been thinking of things all day, got a ball to do in a short time for a bunch of goths. so I'm thinking, what would a goth want to see happen? in black? with blood?
right, i need a black deck of cards, and lets change that "you picked the only red card in the deck" bit into, "watch me bite the deck (like a vampire, see) and lo, i've bitten (and turned red) their selection)"

Leave with half the audience still alive and I reckon you'll have gone the extra mile right there.

if anyone has some "good for goths" ideas let me know please.

If you can get one of those knifes that makes it look like you're cutting into your arm (with blood and everything!! :D ) and then just wipe the blood off to show your arm unharmed I have no doubt that would go down super :D

I'm guessing I'm the "one to ask" here, being a goth myself 8)

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

i knew, KNEW, the next post was coming from you.

I'm in the middle of devising a "random" number sequence just for you! with black and red (backed) cards

Wow!
He's a mentalist too :D

Any tricks with fire work well, as well as the obvious blood, white things turning black...

But generally we aint as different as everyone says.

If you want to be REALLY cheeky, you could always ask someone for their razor blade that they carry on them and vanish it with the raven. And then not give it back?

Oh... you think you'll use the "Goth Card" idea then mate? :D

Death Metal or Emo? Goth is such a broad church.

But, Larry, I'd say it's all in the presentation. I did an Ammar* effect for the kids at Halloween. It was a (let's say) self-working thing with coins. He presented it as 'Thieves trying to steal sheep'. Which was a terrrible, dull story. I did it as 'Theives trying to steal items left after a gathering at a, now, haunted house.' It partially failed because my eldest son was too scared to watch it properly. A coin effect. Too eerie to witness. So, simply change the story. Um... ACR is 'The Jack who would not stay in the grave' or something, for example.

*Actually an old, old routine: but I first came across it in a Ammar vid.

Goth Goth. London After Midnight, Shakespeare, Dante, Don Quixote, Phantom Of The Opera, Cruxshadows, Poppy Brite, Neil Gaiman, The Smiths, The Damned, The Cure, New Rocks, Doc Martens, Nail Polish and Boys in Makeup...

A goth Goth :D

Proper eighties like.
Except a bit too young to be classified as an 80's goth...

"What should I do to a goth?" might incite some nasty, resentful or rude jokes/comments :D

and...................???

ok, "what tricks can i do for goths?"

people shouldn;t be nasty to goths. they're the nicest social grouping i've found. plus you should never mess with the goths, they carry chains.
i once saw a group of about 6 or 7 chavvy buggers start a fight with 3 goths and get their asses kicked, i was going to jump in and help but they really didn't need it. rule: don't mess with people who wear weapons as clothing!

lol Hell yeah :D

Goths are generally really nice people. They might have some slightly different views on things, but thinking outside the box is good...

And yes. Goths can be dangerous if you try and fight with them.
Some chavs tried to start a fight with me once, there was three of them and one of little old me :(

Luckily some passing goths stepped in and gave the chavs a good seeing to.

Anyway... I like Sextons idea of changing the way you look at an effect rather than new effects.
Although if you can come up with anything simple using their chains/chokers/spikes etc then definitely go for it :D
