certain card sleight

Postby down2infinity » Apr 29th, '06, 19:23

ok, this SHOULD be an easy sleight to pull of, but its one ive never quite got the hang of :(. i dunno if im allowed to say the name of it here or not cos it makes it obvious what it is ( even though its only a sleight not a trick ) so if anyone out there knows about doing card sleights can you either say its ok to post the name here or pm me lmao. I just need a few tips on doing it effectively.

You should be OK saying the name...

i have problems with that sometimes as well. I tend to catch a break when I'm pattering, i'll move the cards down to my side and keep talking to the person, catch a break then bring them back up. It's differnt if it's on video though, subtly you need to push the top two cards and quickly pull them back and catch a strong pinky break. Slightly older cards are good for DLs i think. My triple lifts look like there's mroe than one card there though. :(

ive been doing it quite a while, so cant remember the name of it, it involves getting a slight bevel on all the cards with forfinger then lifting up from that.....

Hmm yeah that's a tricky one. Start with an easier one using a pinky break maybe?

i find the easiest way is to use the opposite hand of what you are holding the cards in and pretend you are just squaring up the deck or something. then pull two cards up in the back with your thumb and get a break..then you can just lift from there...ive never been questioned or anything and it works good...even for triple

hope this helps :D

yeah thats similar to what ive been doing, only your way I can take longer ( squaring up the deck ) and hold the break after, as opposed to lifting straight up, makes sense :D im trying it as I type lol, thanks.

I tend to get a break and push off with my thumb. They tend to stay together quite well, and as i turn them over i bend them slightly. Makes it harder to see and looks less suspicious i think.

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

yeah i get the break then you can hold it there for a second and continue with you patter or whatever then push the two off with the same thumb that you used to get the break...not suspicious at all
