Derren has raised the bar so high that it's almost impossible to exceed what he's done. I taped the last two shows and have only just managed to watch them but, in isolation from Chris Angel and any other distractions, what he's done in Trick of The Mind is still excellent and far better than many others could even dream of doing.

Yes, he's probably tending to repeat an effect or an idea but it doesn’t mean that he’s using the same method and there will be many that haven’t seen previous programmes. I much prefer Derren live in a theatre as he’s superb entertainment for 3 hours or more. Without his high profile and importance, I hate to think what crud the TV execs would put on. Probably some ill advised reality thing where Z list celebs take four weeks to try to make Tower Bridge or Edinburgh Castle disappear. No, it really doesn’t bear thinking about!

personally, as Mr. Brown likes his victoriana stuff, i'd like to see a full blown victorian style magic show but with more psychological twists perhaps...

i wouldnt care about the methods or knowing how its done, just want the entertainment and to be a little spooked...

i couldnt imagine say Rory Gallacher standing next to Hendrix and saying "hmm pentatonic blues scales...boring!"

im sure andy nyman would enjoy dressing up too; and imagine if they got some of the league of gentlemen involved - mingling amongst the audience freaking them out and doing little sketches in between...

we've definately been spoiled no doubt about it...

You've got to applaud his choice to put a clip of an effect that didn't work at the very end of the very last show of the series.
